J.S. Bach was born into a family of musicians and after being surrounded for most of his young he became a copyist and student to his older brother Johann Christoph Bach. Young Bach was introduced to a wide variety of composers from around Europe and was well on his way to becoming one of the most respected musicians of his time. Bach spent most of his career in the service of the church as both an organist, composer, and music director. The generous salary given by the various churches Bach worked at gave him freedom to compose some of his most remembered works such as the 6 Cello Suites, The Well-Tempered Clavier, and the Goldberg Variations. Even though Bach's music is quite old it still sparks much joy in the hearts of performers and audience members alike, his music is a foundation for much of the music that we hear even today.

Johann Sebastian Bach is born in Eisenach, the youngest of 8 kids!
J.S. Bach's mother and father pass away and the young Bach moves in with his older brother Johann Christoph Bach
J.S. Bach gets his first job as Organist in Arnstadt.
J.S. Bach gets appointed as Organist in Mühlhausen and gets married to his first wife Maria.
J.S. Bach moves to Weimar and is appointed as organist and composer
J.S. Bach moves again but not for the last time and is appointed organist and Kapellmeister. In Köthen J.S. Bach's wife Maria passes away and Bach eventually meets the young Anna Magdalena Wilke with whom he would have 13 children with and write countless pieces for.
J.S. Bach's final appointment in Leipzig where he would stay for the rest of his life. For the next 27 years he would compose some of his most compelling secular and sacred works and continue to develop his own musical language.

Johann Sebastian Bach passes away after complications from eye surgery.
